They are the much-hyped Sindbad Submarines, two craft which can take you to depths of 22m in comfort. Disappointingly, however, half the time is spent getting to and from the sub’s mooring offshore from the Sindbad Beach Resort in New Hurghada, and after submerging a diver swims alongside trailing bait attract wrasses, groupers and parrotfish past the portholes. Book through any of the major hotels, or at the resort.
Another window on the underwater world can be had from the Sindbad Quest, a space-age glass-bottomed speedboat.
